Interior vs. Exterior Window Cleaning: What's the Difference?

When you request a window cleaning quote, one of the first questions we ask is whether you want interior, exterior, or both. Here's what actually goes into each, and how to decide what your home needs.

Exterior Window Cleaning

This addresses the elements: dust, pollen, rain spots, road grime, and in Montana's case, winter residue from snow and salt. Exterior cleaning is what most homeowners think of first, and it's what makes the biggest visible difference from the street or from inside looking out.

Interior Window Cleaning

Interior glass collects a different kind of buildup - cooking residue, dust, fingerprints, and pet nose prints. It's typically not as heavily soiled as exterior glass, which is why we recommend it less frequently (about twice a year versus quarterly for exterior).

Do You Need Both?

• If you're preparing your home for sale or a big event, both together give the cleanest, most complete result

• If you just moved in or haven't had windows cleaned in over a year, start with both to establish a clean baseline

• For regular maintenance, most homeowners do exterior quarterly and interior twice a year

• Commercial properties often prioritize exterior-only for street-facing appeal, with interior scheduled separately
